Great River Energy of Maple Grove, Minnesota, is the second largest wholesale electric power supplier in the state and the fifth largest generation and transmission (G&T) cooperative in the U.S. in terms of assets. We provide wholesale power to 28 distribution cooperatives in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Those member cooperatives distribute electricity to approximately 600,000 homes, businesses and farms.

Great River Energy is a Touchstone Energy® cooperative.

As a G&T, Great River Energy both generates electricity at power plants and transmits that electricity across high voltage transmission lines.

Financial

Great River Energy is an electric cooperative, or private not-for-profit electric utility business. We are owned by our member cooperatives, which established Great River Energy to provide them at-cost electric service. Click here to view our Memorandum of Insurance.
