Great River Energy selects project team for proposed headquarters facility

Elk River, Minn. - Great River Energy, the second largest wholesale power supplier in Minnesota, is pleased to announce that it has engaged a project team to manage the design and construction of a proposed 150,000-square-foot corporate headquarters facility in Maple Grove, Minn. The TEGRA Group will act as the owner’s representative for the project; Perkins + Will as project architect, and McGough Construction as general contractor. 

The TEGRA Group is a corporate real estate and project advisory firm based in Minneapolis, Minn. Perkins + Will, with a regional office in Minneapolis, is an internationally recognized design firm and an industry leader in sustainable and environmental building design. McGough Construction is a premier regional general contractor based in St. Paul, Minn.

Upon final approval from Great River Energy’s board of directors, the organization anticipates constructing its new headquarters in Maple Grove with related staff members relocating from its current Elk River, Minn. facility in 2008. The project is subject to finalizing land acquisition and receiving city approvals. The facility is expected to be a leading edge “green” building utilizing state-of-the-art sustainable, energy and environmental design and construction technologies.

More than 100 employees will remain at Great River Energy’s existing Elk River facility, which will evolve into an industrial site and house transmission and maintenance facilities, as well as the Elk River Station power plant.
