Great River Energy donates over $84,000 to Hurricane Katrina relief efforts Elk River, Minn. (September 21, 2005) Of the total, $14,901 was raised through employee contributions; this amount was matched dollar for dollar by the company. In addition, the Great River Energy Corporate Contributions Team committed an additional $5,000. This total sum of $34,802 will be donated through The American Red Cross. The remaining $50,000 of Great River Energy’s commitment was authorized by the company’s Board of Directors and will be given to the Louisiana and Mississippi statewide electric cooperative organizations to aid the cooperatives’ members and employees. “All of us at Great River Energy share in the shock and sorrow over the unprecedented devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina. As a company, we are grateful that we are in a position to be able to donate to the relief efforts,” say Great River Energy CEO David Saggau.
