Wilson Lake 115 kV Transmission Project

Great River Energy serves customers in Crow Wing County, the rapidly growing Lake Mille Lacs area and surrounding rural areas. The new transmission line is needed to meet increasing demand due to rapid growth in the area, and to correct inadequate voltages during peak demand periods.

Based on historic and projected load growth rates, the existing transmission system will not be adequate to maintain acceptable voltage levels, which may jeopardize power delivery in these areas.

The Minnesota Public Utilities Commission issued this order granting the route permit and certificate of need on February 12, 2007:

The Minnesota Department of Commerce prepared this environmental assessment and filed it November 27, 2007.
